Surrey RCMP advises that there will be a police emergency response training exercise at Guildford Town Centre on Sunday, May 1, starting at 6 p.m. when the mall is closed.

There will be a large police presence around the mall Sunday evening which will include marked and unmarked police vehicles and officers in tactical gear involved in realistic training scenarios. The training area will be clearly blocked off and extra security personnel will be on hand to direct people who may need to access the parking lot or surrounding businesses. Traffic along 152nd Street and 104th Avenue will not be affected.

“Thanks to our strong relationships with local community partners like Guildford Town Centre, we are fortunate to be able to use this location and provide our first responders with up to date and realistic scenario based training,” says Surrey RCMP Sgt. Alanna Dunlop.

“Police emergency training exercises such as this are a part of a continuum of learning for the RCMP with the ultimate goal of enhancing public safety.”
